Default Section Dear respondent, As a third year trainee teacher I must complete a piece of research within the field of education. I will be focussing on body dissatisfaction in primary school age children. This topic is of great interest to me as research has shown that children increasingly feel unhappy about their bodies. Body dissatisfaction is being unhappy with one’s physical appearance, this could be for a number of different reasons and is usual based on subjective experiences and views. In order to ascertain attitudes and experiences of body dissatisfaction in children, I have composed a questionnaire and I would be grateful if you could take a few moments to complete it. I understand that body dissatisfaction in primary school age children is a sensitive subject, so if you feel uncomfortable answering any of the questions please feel free to leave the question blank. The results of this questionnaire will be kept confidential under the Data Protection Act 1998.
Thank you for helping me complete this piece of research. Please note when completing this questionnaire the term ‘Body image’ refers to, ‘The subjective concept of one's physical appearance based on self-observation and the reactions of others.’ Or simply, the way we view ourselves. ‘Body dissatisfaction’ is being unhappy with one’s physical appearance based on any number of factors, possibly including weight, shape, scarring and so on.
